Costochondritis Expert, Peter Askes
The American Rib Pain Institute was founded in 2016 by a physical therapist.
Peter Askes was born in 1962 in the Netherlands. After graduating from Physical Therapy School in Amsterdam in 1984, he The American Rib Pain Institute was founded in 2016 by a physical therapist.
Peter Askes was born in 1962 in the Netherlands. After graduating from Physical Therapy School in Amsterdam in 1984, he served 2 years in the Royal Dutch Army.
Mr. Askes moved to the United States in 1987 and started his employment at the Medical Center at Princeton in New Jersey. He continued to work as a Physical Therapist and Administrator for several rehabilitation companies (Raritan Valley Physical Therapy, Advantage Health Corporation, Health South Corporation and Princeton Orthopedics) for the next 18 years.
In 2005, Mr. Askes started his own business: First Choice Physical Therapy in East Brunswick, New Jersey. Over the next 10 years it became the best-Google-reviewed PT facility in Middlesex County. He sold the practice in 2015.
Over the last 8 years Mr. Askes has focused his career, time and energy on exploring, researching and treating the condition of anterior rib pain or costochondritis. After several years of clinical design and testing, he developed a new physical therapy treatment option for costochondritis: the Breathing Assisted Recoil Technique (BART). It is the first treatment technique of its kind to specifically address the anterior rib joints involved in costochondritis.
In January of 2019, Mr. Askes published his book on Amazon about the condition: “Costochondritis: a Forgotten Condition”
He currently resides in Philadelphia. 2 years in the Royal Dutch Army.
